Organized by Textile & Fashion Federation (Taff) and presented by Tangs, the Singapore Fashion Awards ceremony was held on Friday, 18 November 2016 at the iconic National Gallery Singapore, to celebrate talented individuals and businesses in the local fashion industry that has total of six categories, including Designer of The Year, Emerging Designer of The Year and it was also named one of the Top 3 Most Popular Brands of the Year, together with womenswear labels, By Invite Only and Beyond The Vines.
Two local fashion brands won the top prizes in their respective categories of fashion and accessories for this year and the big winner of the night was womenswear brand Love, Bonito.
The impressive panel of judges includes personalities who’ve impacted the industry, like well-known local designer Thomas Wee; industry experts Tina Tan-Leo and Tjin Lee; digital influencer Andrea Chong; Sharon Lim and Niki and Lynette Lee, the CEO of this year’s organizer, the Textile and Fashion Federation.
The attendees were fabulous, the performances by Singapore artists Aisyah Azizand Shigga Shay were superb, and the nominees for the awards were absolutely breathtaking.
Bumped into many familiar faces at the fashion event which was the talk of the town. Everyone who was part of the fashion industry or who cared about fashion was there dressed to the nines and we manage to captured the sheer elegance and stunning picture before the ceremony start.
And what a big surprise to see Eden Ang (Singapore actor, singer and dancer) that night. He's got a great sense of humor. He was 10 years old when the family moved to Taiwan because his defense attached father was posted there for work. Three years later, the family migrated to New Zealand to enjoy a carefree retirement life.
He completed his degree in Chinese studies from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. In 2007, he returned to Singapore in order to serve national service and stayed on after the mandatory stint to pursue an entertainment career. He started out as a break dancer at Universal Studios Singapore before dabbling in theatre production.
