LUXURY CARS - Mercedes-Benz launched their New GLA Class SUV - Last Thursday, I went for 2 events in 1 day - Zenith Affair at Hilton Hotel and Mercedes-Benz Party at Clarke Quay. DJ Nicole Chen, was spinning for the Mercedes-Benz exclusive event. The event turned out to be an interesting surprise as the name "The Glow Party" suggests, VIP guests were dressed in bright neon and colourful outfits. The event was highly successful with the special guest appearance of brand ambassadors and Mediacorp artistes - Rebecca Lim and Desmond Tan who loved the Mercedes-Benz brand.

A total of three models were newly launched - the GLA 200 priced at S$186,888, the GLA CDI priced at S$188,888 and the GLA 250 4MATIC priced at S$198,888. All prices are inclusive of COE. All engines are mated to the 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission and has the ECO start/stop function as a standard feature. The ECO start/stop function means the engine of the car is automatically switched off when in stationary which helps lower fuel consumption and save fuel costs. The GLA Class has excellent visual appeal and versatile interior helps make it a compact premium SUV. The compact size of the GLA Class also helps it to be highly manoeuvrable in Singapore's urban jungle especially in the busy City traffic. I believe the GLA class would cater to the younger generation as it is a bold statement itself "comfort and styling needs not to be compromised despite being bigger in size". Some believe that the GLA Class is also Mercedes-Benz answer to close competitors such as the Audi Q3 and BMW X1.

THE GLOW PARTY is targeted for Mercedes-Benz VIP guests, who are under 45 years old. It was really fun, as they present their New GLA models. They had hip hop dancers and even break dancers to get the party started. After which they revealed their new GLA car models to the much awaited anticipation of the young crowd.
I bumped into many familiar faces at the event such as Sara-Ann Shuen Krishnamoorthy who was dressed very stylishly as usual. Mercedes-Benz usually hold their car launches at their official show room along Alexander Road, so I was a little surprised that they hold this GLA launch at Clarke Quay. It was only when I spoke to their Events Manager, that I discovered that they were having 2 events. This one held at Clarke Quay was targeted to the younger Mercedes Benz owners. I also bumped into famous radio celebrity - DJ Glenn Ong :)
It was a fun and exciting event. They even have a walking glowing man (like the movie - TRON) balancing on tall sticks. VIP Guests were also given glow in the dark light sticks and wacky spectacles. It was a good party as everyone was enjoying themselves and dancing to DJ Nicole Chen's awesome music. Mercedes-Benz was brilliant as they also booked all the restaurants surrounding the water fountain, so that we can rest in the comfort of the air con. They also had a mini buffet for their guests and Glenmorangie whiskey. I think this new GLA is suitable for young and sporty people. I like the one in red. But I am contented with my black Mercedes-Benz SLK Convertible so I would not be changing my car anytime soon.
