During a COVID-19 Pandemic Lock Down

This blogpost reveals the top 3 best home activities to do with your little kids. Due to COVID-19 or Coronavirus pandemic, most parents have kept their children at home to avoid getting expose to the Coronavirus outdoors. Staying indoors can be quite a challenge for our young ones as most of them are full of energy and prefer to go outdoors to run or play at the playgrounds. Here are my top 3 best home activities which have worked miraculously with my active Caspian. Hope they will work for your kids too! 

1. Fixing LEGO Toys 

My little Caspian is quite a small "genius" as he enjoys and loves fixing different LEGO sets all by himself. Daddy recently bought him a total of 5 different Trolls World Tour Lego sets for him to fix and he managed to complete them all by himself with the occassional verbal guidance from daddy only. Fixing Lego sets train our little ones patience, perseverance, focus and also improve their fine motoring skills.

Fixing LEGO Toys is one of our favourite things to do Caspian's daddy loves collecting these LEGO toys too! During these pandemic times, we have bought over 20 new Lego sets in total!

2. Fixing Puzzles

Caspian has lots of puzzles at home, so he doesn't get bored at doing the same ones. Each time he does it, he gets faster. He loves Cars, so I managed to get lots of CARS Puzzles for him. One of his favourite Cartoon is Paw Patrol so he has many Paw Patrol puzzles and toys.

3. Doing Arts and Craft

6 Jan 2018 - 8 January 2017 is the actual date that Baby Caspian arrived on this earth, just 1 day after my birthday! However, Baby Caspian celebrated his first birthday in advanced as we had to hold it on the weekend so that most people can make it. We decided that it would be a Giggle and Hoot themed party as Baby Caspian enjoys watching the TV program on ABC Kids channel. The blue and orange owl helps to put a big smile on Baby Caspian's face and nothing brings me greater joy than to see my Baby Caspian feeling happy and smiling in delight. I love listening to Baby Caspian's giggles too!

For this party, I organized and DIY everything on my own as my husband works long hours at the hospital as a doctor. It took me 2 whole days and nights to prepare everything and creating the balloons arch took the longest time and lots of effort. I had to manually pump each balloon and tie them up together and there were over 50 balloons? I had blisters on my fingers by the time I completed everything. Besides decorating our home, I had to shop for beautiful glass canisters, flower vases, flowers as well as canapés, drinks, chocolates, lollies, delicious macarons from Adriano Zumbo Patisserie etc. All the hard work and effort paid off as I was happy to receive many good compliments from my guests that they enjoyed themselves tremendously. 

3 Tier Birthday Cake - Baby Caspian is a really lucky baby as we ordered a beautiful 3 tier custom made birthday cake from Cakes & Stuff. Talented baker - Ling personally delivered the birthday cake to my home and the cake not only looked good but taste extremely delicious too! Everyone at the party were impressed by how yummy the chocolate cake was and enjoyed eating their share. 

Baby Caspian's Present from Daddy & Mummy - We presented our present to our darling Baby Caspian on 8 January 2018 which was a beautiful red Ferrari Ride-On toy car which he loves so much! With the car was a sticker that says "Dream Big, Caspian" as our message to our son is for him to dream big for anything is possible if he just believes... We also custom made a Badge to pin onto our clothes which was really cute! Many thanks to all our guests for their generous presents too!

It's been a really challenging journey raising a kid and being a full-time stay at home mom. Now, I have great respect for all mothers in this world as I finally realized how difficult it is. I am still breast-feeding Caspian after 1 year and slowing weaning and I must say that it is true that breast milk helps to keep babies healthy as with a strong immune system, Baby Caspian only fell sick once throughout his entire 1 year. So I highly recommend all mothers who are able to breast-feed to keep up the great work!

SYDNEY, Australia - I flew down to Sydney to visit my sister Lora Christelle as she just gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Caspian on 8 January 2017 just one day after her birthday on 7 January 2017. If you heard her remarkable story, you would understand that after my sister had her birthday dinner celebration at a French restaurant in Canberra, ACT, Australia, she felt discomfort and was rushed to the hospital. Her husband Chris drove frantically from Canberra to Sydney to admit my sister Lora into Royal Prince Alfred Hospital just beside University of Sydney where my sister graduated with a Masters of International Business qualification a few years ago. I guess Baby Caspian just wanted to share the same birthday as my sister and was simply getting too impatient waiting in Lora's womb.

At the same busy time period when baby Caspian was born, it was also the time that my sister Lora planned to move from Newcastle to Eastwood in Sydney, so my parents and I helped move all her things as well as her 4 cars - Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz and Fiat. Funny how just 2 of them own 4 cars in total - car fanatics indeed!

Korean BBQ at Eastwood, Sydney

Eastwood, Sydney - My sister moved into a brand new beautiful 5 bedrooms 3 bathrooms house in Eastwood and it is located near a little "Korean town" where we enjoyed a delicious Korean BBQ dinner. As Lora was unable to leave home during her 1 month confinement period, my parents and I had dinner ourselves nearby. 

Ripples Chowder Bay Restaurant 

Ripples Chowder Bay - One of Sydney's most famous restaurant and cafe with splendid waterfront views - Special thanks to girlfriend Joanne for picking me up from home and taking me out in her beautiful white Audi TT car. We had a wonderful brunch at Ripples Chowder Bay and later went to explore Barangaroo area in Sydney City. It was a fun girls day out together :)

Flying back to Singapore - As time passed really quickly, it was time to fly back to Singapore as I had loads of work piling up and waiting for my attention. It was always a great pleasure flying with Singapore Airlines on Business Class with exceptional food, drinks and customer service!
