So every girl wants to have that perfect oval face, the chiseled look. I used to go for Botox injections to make my jaw line more defined and smaller. But now, with the latest technology, you can make your cheeks and jaw line smaller by a lifting process called LIFTERA Hifu. 

Well, you know I'm very scared of the slightest pain, so I actually requested for some numbing cream. But from what I heard, most people probably don't need to use this.

What is Liftera HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, that is used for Face Lifting and Body Contouring. 

Why do Liftera? 

Liftera Lifting is A non-invasive lifting and contouring treatment for the face, neck area and body. It’s the first Liftera™ treatment, using the original theory of Thermal Diffusion Treatment (TDT ™) Technology. Body Contouring and Tightening

What is TDT TM ? 

The applicator of Liftera provide a procedure on curved area of the skin surface by moving technique. Unlike general HIFU procedure, Liftera treatment irradiate at a certain depth in the skin by using at 10 Hz as faster velocity of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound without any damage of epidermis. So this is how the LIFTERA HIFU Machine works on my face. Its like a holding device that glide around my face and neck area. It basically makes my cheeks lift up and become firmer. Then if you want to remove the turkey neck, you can do this on your neck area. It has a mild numbing and weird sensation. It is quite bearable. Not exceptionally painful. But definitely you will feel a slight discomfort. That's when you know that this treatment is working. You can ask for a higher power if you feel nothing, or a lower power if it is too painful for you. 

Knowing me, I went for the mildest power. 

You can see from this video that my other side of the cheeks is already lifted and smaller than the cheeks that Doctor Tam is currently working on. It has INSTANT AMAZING Results!

Recently, I tried a non-surgical Facial Contouring Treatment called V-SCULPT by EPW Laser + Aesthetics Clinic, that helped me to achieve a less chubby set of cheeks and a more chiselled jaw line. There was no downtime or risks, normally associated with conventional facial surgery. This non-surgical treatment involves volumizing and refining areas of the face through the use of Fillers and Muscle Relaxers. Results are seen instantly with no swelling, bleeding or downtime in most cases. 

P.S: Surprisingly, It did not hurt at all for me.

I was treated by Dr Melvin Tan, a good looking doctor, with more than 5 years of experience in the aesthetic industry. First, he asked me, what and where my concerned areas are, before recommending, what he thought was suitable for me.

Dr Melvin Tan's Solution: EPW - V-SCULPT Face Contouring Program (Fillers + Botox).

He explained to me in detail, how this non-surgical Face Contouring Treatment could make my face look slimmer, with an elongated chin with the use of non-surgical fillers by JUVÉDERM^® Voluma (Hyaluronic Acid) and more well-defined jaw line with the use of BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin Type A).

My V-SCULPT Program cost SGD$3000 in total, with the use of almost 2 syringes of JUVÉDERM^® Voluma at SGD$2000 and Jawline Botox at SGD$1000. (Note: Prices will vary according to individual requirements.)

I was served by Sue Amir, the Assistant Patient Care Manager, who walked me through the whole process of this non-surgical V-SCULPT Program. First, I needed to fill up my personal particulars into their clinic form, which also includes my medical history, allergies, etc. She was really jovial and patient with me, as she slowly explained all the detailed information about the process of the treatment. Then, I needed to sign a consent form that states that I agree and understand how the process is being done. I also needed to take a few photos of my front and side facial profiles for the doctor before I was led into the operating theatre to continue with the procedure.

PART 1 

V-SCULPT Program

Chin Fillers using JUVÉDERM^® Voluma (Hyaluronic Acid). 

Cost: $2200 for 2 JUVÉDERM^® Voluma + $100 Dr Melvin Tan's Consultation

I laid comfortably onto the operating bed. I was impressed by how the operating theatre looks. I felt like I was in an "ER television show". The Patient Care Counsellor began by cleansing my chin area and then she applied for me a special numbing cream. Dr Melvin Tan then began the procedure by measuring my chin area carefully with a ruler. He marked a line in the centre of the chin and explained every step of the way, what he was about to do to me, ensuring that I was at ease. He used almost 2 syringes of JUVÉDERM^® Voluma (with Lidocaine) Hyraluronic Acid Derma Filler. The rest of the syringe, was reserved for a second "touch up" (if necessary) on the next visit.

It is safe because the soft injectable gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the Hyaluronic Acid that exist naturally in our body. It is non-permanent and may last up to 18 months. The fillers are biodegradable, which means that they will naturally disappear into the body. 

The process of injecting the fillers into my chin area was surprisingly not painful at all. Dr Melvin Tan moulded my chin filler with precision using his discerning eye and skill, as it comes with experience. After injecting one syringe of filler into my chin, he handed me a mirror, to check if I liked the way it looks. I couldn't tell a difference then, as I guess the initial result was too natural. So, he continued on with another syringe, then stopped again, to see if I liked it. I held up the mirror again and it looked amazing! I was extremely happy with the result. My face looks slimmer! Next, they applied for me their Epiderma Sunscreen SPF 30 (Natural), before I stepped out of the operating theatre.

What I really liked about it was that it has a very natural looking result that did not affect my facial expressions. This quick, safe and effective procedure was done during my office lunch hour. It was so natural that when I went back into office, no one could tell what I did to my face. They could tell that my face looks slimmer, yet they have no idea what I did.

As you can tell from the picture below, you can see that my chin is slightly longer and sharper.

The tip of my chin also protrudes out a little, making it like a 3D kind of effect. 

I had a slight blue black on the tip of my chin on Day 2, which was easily concealed by their Epiderma Sunscreen SPF 30 (Natural). On Day 6, my bruise was almost completely gone. Can you tell, that my face looks a little sharper already? I'm excited to go for my Botox session soon! Stay tuned!

Q: What is JUVEDERM? 

A: It is a family of Hyaluronic Acid fillers with JUVEDERM Ultra, Ultra Plus and its X C formulation and the first and only dermal (Hyaluronic Acid) fillers to have been approved by the US Food Drug and Administration (FDA).

Q: What is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)?

A: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural occurring substance found in our body that helps to hydrate and add volume to our skin, making it look younger and healthier  It is a natural acid that is broken down by the body in one or two days. 

Q: How Long is the Procedure?

A: A total of approximately 25 minutes in the treatment room. It only took 15 minutes for the numbing cream to be applied and take effect, then another 10 minutes for Dr Melvin Tan, to work on my chin.  

Q: Does it Hurt?

A: It did not hurt at all for me. Even though, I have a very low tolerance level for pain.

Q: Will I Notice the Difference Right Away?

A: It is instant. I was able to see immediate effect, that my chin was elongated and sharper. Yet, it looks extremely natural. I went back to my office, asking my colleagues, if they noticed any difference on my face, none of them, could tell what I did, but they did somehow notice that my face looked slightly slimmer. 

Q: Is there any Down Time?

A: I still went out for lunch and went back to my office after the treatment. No one knew, that I had a "Lunch Time" Filler Treatment. It looks very natural and there wasn't any swelling at all for me. 

Q: Are there any Side Effects?

A: Some symptoms like slight redness, swelling or bruising may occur, based on individuals. But it is easily concealed by make up. I didn't swell, yay!

Q: How Long will it Last?

A: This depends on your age, quality of your skin and lifestyle. It is approved by (FDA) that it lasts up to one (1) year from initial treatment, but generally it may last up to 18 months. 

Q: Any Post-Treatment Care Tips?

A: Avoid make-up 12 hours after the treatment. Avoid extended exposure to sunlight and temperatures below zero (0) degrees, 2 weeks after treatment. Avoid sauna, hammam, facials, strenuous exercise sessions two (2) weeks after treatment. You may use a soft, cool compress like an ice pack to alleviate any welling or bruising.
