Sara Shantelle Lim's Singapore Airlines Business Class Trip to New York, Los Angeles & Las Vegas (United States of America) www.SingaporeAir.com World's Most Awarded Airlines | The Top Airlines in the World
(Sara Shantelle Lim & Dr VT)
My husband and I decided to have a little holiday! We traveled to United States of America on Singapore Airlines Business Class. As usual, Singapore Airlines is always the preferred airline that we would take, due to its reputation of being the safest and best airline in the world. Did you also know that Singapore Airlines has the youngest fleet of planes in the air? Not to forget their lovely cabin crew and stewardesses, which provides the best service in the air. We also enjoy their cosy and amazing lounges around the world.
I am also proud to say that I used to worked for Singapore Airlines when I was 19-24 years old, it was my first real job after I finished school. I loved it! It was so fun traveling around the world. I enjoyed staying in all the 5 stars hotels around the world, savoring all the delicious food from the different countries, learning the different cultures and heritage around the globe. Singapore Airlines also paid the stewardess really well when I was working there. Imagine, a 19 years old girl, living the best life, traveling all over the world, earning an average of SGD$7000-8000 a month. I would say, its good money for a first job in Singapore!
We checked into our flight at the Singapore Airlines Business Class Check In Counter. Singapore Airlines First and Business Class Check In Counter is at Changi Airport Terminal 3, Road Drop off Lane 5. We like to check in a little early so that we can have some time to shop around the duty free zone, and also to enjoy the Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge, Silverkris Lounge.
We had a hearty breakfast at the Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge before our flight. They served all kinds of food and beverages. From Western, American breakfast to Chinese dim sum, porridge, to Indian Roti Prata, and so on. Singapore Airlines lounge is also well stocked with all kinds of international alcohol and liquor at all times of the day, they even have a Singapore Airlines Bar in their lounge. They have unlimitedbeer, hard liquor, wine and Champagne for you to enjoy. I on the other hand, decided to have Hot Chocolate with my breakfast.

These are some pictures of the Singapore Airlines Business Class Seats. These Singapore Airlines Business Class Seats are the kind where by you can adjust the seats into a full flat beds from the press of a button. It is very convenient. You also have your own personal space without having to be near or facing anyone directly. If you want full privacy, choose a window seat, which is only an individual seat at the side of the plane on your own. If you are a couple and want to sit side by side, like my husband and I, we choose the middle row seats, where by you can easily share food and take nice couple photos together in a frame.

Some pictures of our Food and Drinks on board Singapore Airlines Business Class. We always order Book the Cook on Singapore Airlines, so we will definitely have the meal that we want and not be disappointed. I will usually order their famous Lobster Thermidor, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Beef Cheeks, Duck Confit, etc.

I ordered a Baileys on the rocks.
Singapore Airlines also gave out Penhaligon's amenity kit for the Business Class Passengers. They always have a change of different branded amenity kits for Suites, First and Business Class. I also requested for their famous Singapore Airlines Bear Bear for my baby boy. They usually have a male and a female version of their Singapore Airlines Bear. This trip, they gave me a female bear with a little cute bow on the bear's ear.
Sara Shantelle Lim enjoyed her Singapore Airlines Satay. It is really thick, tender and juicy! The satay sauce is really good, with a little bit of spice. Singapore Airlines Satay is one of my favourite dishes when I travel. If you are lucky, you may request to have a second serving of it, as it is so yummy!
The Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew distributing and serving our inflight meals. I love their uniform and smiles. You can see their smiles even when they are wearing their masks. Very good service!
We flew from Singapore to Frankfurt to New York, so you can imagine, we had quite a number of meals on board the airlines. Every single meal was fun and delightful. I really enjoyed my Singapore Airlines Business Class Experience despite the long hours on board.

As mentioned we traveled from Singapore to New York, with a overnight transit via Frankfurt Germany, so we had to stay at an Airport Hotel at Frankfurt. We chose to stay at Sheraton Hotel as it is one of the most convenient hotel, located just directly across from Frankfurt Airport. You just needed to cross a small road and you have reached the airport hotels building. Sheraton Hotel also has a really beautiful dining and bar area to chill if you have time. But for us, we checked in really late, like after dinner hours, so we went straight to bathe and sleep.

Now let's talk about our USA TRIP!

New York City (USA)
During our New York trip, we checked out The Vessel building, Little Island, Times Square, One Vanderbilt budling, Hersey's Chocolate Store, St Patrick's Cathedral, St Mary's Cathedral, Rockefellers Plaza, Chinatown, Grand Central Terminal Train Station, Nintendo Shop, Harry Potter Musical, Raging Bull at the CBD, World Trade Centre Memorial, Stew Leonard's Market, Woodberry Factory Outlet, The Clock Tower Restaurant, Forrest Gump's Bubba Gump Shrimp and Co, Junior's Cheesecake Restaurant, and many more.
I have been in New York a couple of times as both my husband and I have relatives living there. We were lucky that our love ones are able to drive us around on certain days, as you know, most people in New York take the subway trains, and I'm a little afraid of trains due to OCD.
Vessel (TKA) is a structure and visitor attraction built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Built to plans by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick, the elaborate honeycomb-like structure rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings for visitors to climb. Vessel is the main feature of the 5-acre (2.0 ha) Hudson Yards Public Square. Funded by Hudson Yards developer Related Companies, its final cost is estimated at $200 million.
The Vessel is now closed, due to the many suicides report there.
The Vessel - Suicides
On February 1, 2020, a 19-year-old man jumped from the sixth floor of the structure and died; the media reported this as the first such incident involving the Vessel. On December 22, 2020, a 24-year-old woman jumped from the top of the structure and also died. A third fatality occurred less than a month later on January 11, 2021, when a 21-year-old man jumped from the Vessel. Following the third death, the structure was indefinitely closed while the Related Companies consulted with experts on a strategy to prevent future suicides. Residents of the surrounding neighborhoods hired a suicide prevention expert, who suggested adding netting or raising the glass barriers. However, no changes were ultimately made to the barriers.
Vessel was reopened at the end of May 2021, but all visitors were required to be accompanied by at least one other person. In addition, after the first hour of each day, all visitors above five years old had to pay $10 for a ticket. Tickets for the first hour of the day, as well as tickets for children five and under, were free. Revenue from ticket sales was to directly fund additional safety upgrades. Two months after Vessel reopened, on July 29, 2021, a 14-year-old boy jumped to his death while he was with his family. After the fourth death, Vessel was again closed indefinitely. Stephen Ross said at the time he was considering closing the structure permanently. By August 2022, Hudson Yards officials were testing safety nets around Vessel in preparation for the structure's possible reopening.
The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. Saved from demolition by neighborhood residents and the City of New York, the High Line opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space where visitors experience nature, art, and design.
The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. At 30th Street the elevated tracks turn west around the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on 34th Street.
Videos of The High Line in New York City
As of 2014, it was expected that could be integrated with the Hudson Yards development and the Hudson Park and Boulevard. When the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project's Western Rail Yard is finished in 2018 it will be elevated above the High Line Park, so an exit along the viaduct over the West Side Yard will lead to the Western Rail Yard. The 34th Street entrance is at grade, with wheelchair access.
The park's attractions include naturalized plantings, inspired by plants which grew on the disused tracks, and views of the city and the Hudson River. The pebble-dash concrete walkways swell and constrict, swing from side to side, and divide into concrete tines which meld the hardscape with plantings embedded in railroad-gravel mulch.
The High Line is currently open daily from 7am to 10pm. Elevators are located at four locations throughout the park. Park-level access is also available at 30th Street at Hudson Yards.
New York City Times Square
City Centre of New York City
There's so many things that you can do at Time Square. We walked from The Vessel to Times Square by using The High Line walking path. The weather in New York is really nice in the autumn and spring time. You can walk for hours and hours and not feel tired at all. We checked out Hersey's Chocolate World and Nintendo Shop, before we arrived near the Rockefeller Centre area.

The Rockefeller Centre is where you will always see people in Movies, ice skating in the middle of New York City. This is the place! Ice skating on The Rink under the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is one of New York’s quintessential winter activities. The Rink sets the perfect scene for every occasion, from ice skating lessons and special events to the Après Skate Chalets presented by Balsam Hill.
Just right beside The Rockefeller Centre, the Fire Department of New York was show casing their Fire Engines and Ladders, and also their very advanced robotic dog that can save lives without risking a real human life. I don't know its a permanent show case, I think we were just lucky that day, to stumble across their special day. We also saw a lot of Fire Fighters in their formal uniforms that day. Very smart looking and handsome, they were huge too, just like in the movies and TV shows.
FDNY Robotic Dog
Video of FDNY Robotic Dog
It is so so impressive to see this FDNY robotic dog, it is so quick and smooth! I also love watching all the American movies and TV series that shows the Fire Department of New York City, saving lives. So I am very impressed by their Huge Red Fire Engines and Ladders.
Just nearby The Rockefeller Centre is The St Patrick's Cathedral. It is walking distance. So don't miss out a visit to this Cathedral whereby their architecture is so impressive and intricate. Every time I can to New York City, I will come here and say a little prayer. It is so peaceful and quiet inside. It is also very cooling inside. So even if you go visit this cathedral during Summer, it will be very cooling inside.
St. Patrick's Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. It is the seat of the Archbishop of New York as well as a parish church. The cathedral occupies a city block bounded by Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, 50th Street, and 51st Street, directly across from Rockefeller Center. Designed by James Renwick Jr., it is the largest Gothic Revival Catholic cathedral in North America.
The cathedral was constructed starting in 1858 to accommodate the growing Archdiocese of New York and to replace St. Patrick's Old Cathedral. Work was halted in the early 1860s during the American Civil War; the cathedral was completed in 1878 and dedicated on May 25, 1879. The archbishop's house and rectory were added in the early 1880s, both designed by James Renwick Jr., and the spires were added in 1888. A Lady chapel designed by Charles T. Mathews was constructed from 1901 to 1906. The cathedral was consecrated on October 5, 1910, after all its debt had been paid off. Extensive restorations of the cathedral were conducted several times, including in the 1940s, 1970s, and 2010s.
St. Patrick's Cathedral is clad in marble and has several dozen stained glass windows. It measures 332 feet (101 m) long, with a maximum width of 174 feet (53 m) at the transepts. The bronze doors that form the cathedral's main entrance on Fifth Avenue are flanked by towers with spires rising 329.5 feet (100 m). The northern tower contains nineteen bells, and the interior has two pipe organs. Inside is a nave flanked by several chapels; two transepts; a chancel and apse; and a crypt. East of the apse are the rectory, Lady chapel, and archbishop's residence facing Madison Avenue. The cathedral is a New York City designated landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
We went to check out Little Island at New York City. Its a beautiful man made island built on top of the waters. Little Island is a new public park, located in Hudson River Park, where all New Yorkers and visitors can experience nature and art in a unique urban oasis on the Hudson River.
an artificial island park in the Hudson River west of Manhattan in New York City, adjoining Hudson River Park. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, it is near the intersection of West Street and West 13th Street in the Meatpacking District and Chelsea neighborhoods of Manhattan. It is located slightly west of the Manhattan shoreline atop Hudson River Pier 55, connected to Hudson River Park in Manhattan by footbridges at 13th and 14th Streets. Little Island has three concession stands, a small stage, and a 687- seat amphitheater.

Little Island is near the water area, its beautiful..
When you are in New York, you have to try this FOR FIVE COOKIE from For Five Coffee. It is so delicious. They are so many colourful and warm cookie. The texture is just amazing. It is so creamy and nice inside. There are so many flavours to try. Cookie lovers! Don't miss this out! There's always a long queue. But the queue is fast! We were lucky enough to get seats. But I think most New Yockers just order and take away when they are on the way to work. Only tourist like us, actually have the time to sit and chill in the cafe.
Lamia's Fish Market is by far the Most Beautiful and Artistic restaurant in New York City. I really loved this place. We checked out this place on its off peak hours as we were afraid that it will be full during the lunch and dinner time. It is such a romantic place to bring your date. It is affordable and yet it looks like a fine dining place. The ambience is so peaceful and serene, like you are dining under the sea. It reminds me of Aquaman the movie or something.
Lamia's Fish Market even have private rooms to host your birthday parties. Even the private rooms look so impressive, it is really designed in the nautical themed.
If you like Little Mermaid and Under the Sea themed places, you must check out this place. They served amazing food and also lots of bar drinks and Champagnes.
We tried their Nachos with Beef Tar Tar, their Mussels, their Crab Cakes and of course we had to try their famous freshly suckled Oysters.
It was splendid! Lamia's Fish Market definitely left an impression for me as one of the most beautiful restaurant in New York City for me. Their food was delicious and their seats were so comfortable. The setting was dim and romantic, such a good places to just relax and chill with a glass of wine or Champagne.
Chinatown is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, bordering the Lower East Side to its east, Little Italy to its north, Civic Center to its south, and Tribeca to its west. With an estimated population of 90,000 to 100,000 people, Chinatown is home to the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere. Manhattan's Chinatown is also one of the oldest Chinese ethnic enclaves. The Manhattan Chinatown is one of nine Chinatown neighborhoods in New York City, as well as one of twelve in the New York metropolitan area, which contains the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, comprising an estimated 893,697 uniracial individuals as of 2017.
Giant Alaskan King Crab at Chinatown New York City
So we checked out one of the Chinese Restaurant located at Chinatown New York City. We feasted on a Giant Alaskan King Crab, an entire Roasted Baby Pig, a Traditional American Ginseng Chicken Soup and a freshly steamed fish.
This Chinese restaurant in Chinatown cooked this Giant Alaskan King Crab in many different styles. Half of it was steamed with garlic and ginger so you can taste the original freshness and sweetest of the crab. The other half is cooked in a really delicious savory paste. Finally the shell of the crab was steamed with eggs. Sooooo damn good!
Videos of how BIG the GIANT Alaskan Crab Is..

Steamed Fish
Traditional American Ginseng Chicken Soup
Our Chinese Dinner was really impressive. It is just like eating Chinese food in Singapore, or even better. The chefs are all from China, so they are really authentic when they cook Chinese food. If you need to look for Chinese food and you are sick of Burgers, go to Chinatown!
