Women to Women Campaign - Art Exhibition by Adeline Yeo

Women to Women Campaign - Art Exhibition by Adeline Yeo - I was invited to the Arts House for this exclusive event where several prominent women were involved in this women's campaign.

It was a women's campaign to highlight how many women in our modern society are suffering from body imagery and body dissatisfaction issues where problems such as anorexia and bulimia are on the rise.

Today, many women resort to all kinds of crash diets or even skipping meals altogether just to achieve their "Slim is beautiful" ideal as influenced by skinny models featured in fashion runways, magazines and other forms of media. I hope society will learn how to accept how women can be beautiful in their own unique shapes and sizes instead of discriminating those who do not conform to the slim ideal.

The event is proudly organized by Tayliz Events and Big Is Gorgeous whose mission is "to create a supportive and caring community that caters to our physical and psychological needs" and to actively campaign against discrimination in society. More info can be found at their official website http://www.bigisgorgeous.com/

Yang Taisong was the host for the night and he was very professional in his speech as well as introducing each guest speaker invited. Taisong is the Director of Imagine Consultancy and Three Affaires Pte Ltd and have invited my sister Sara Shantelle and I to several events that he hosted.

With an exciting programme filled with various VIP guest speakers, it was a wonderful night of learning new information and meeting people who are passionate to make a change in society.

Most importantly, I was at this event to support my girlfriend Adeline Yeo who introduced her 7 beautiful paintings and shared her lovely poetry with everyone who was present. She was also featured on Channel News Asia as a finger painting artist who could brilliantly paint even when blindfolded. Adeline is exceptionally talented and I love all her art pieces. It was a great night where I bumped into several friends as well as made new friends.

Last but not least, Whitney Thompson who is the Eating Disorder Ambassador of the United States flown into Singapore for this event. She is famously known as an American Model who is the winner of the tenth cycle of the America's Next Top Model. She is the first plus size model to win the show. She highlights how curvy women can be confident, beautiful and successful.

Like they say "Be the change you want to see" - Take actions and work towards what you truly believe in :)

I really respect all these people who actively campaign against discrimination of "bigger" women and how they take actions to solve issues involving eating disorders and to provide psychiatric treatment for victims.
