SYDNEY - NEWCASTLE - Discover Sailing Day at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) - Special thanks to girlfriend Caitlin who invited me to attend this Discover Sailing Day event. It was my first time sailing and I was feeling extremely nervous. I do suffer from sea sickness sometimes if the waters are rough but thank God, we were sailing along calm waters in Newcastle Harbour and there were hardly any strong breezes. My girlfriend Natalie and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously despite the extreme hot weather, trying to sail on different vessels and learning the ropes on how to sail like a pro.

We arrived at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club early in the morning in order to avoid queues and large crowds. As they say, the early bird catches the worm. We managed to pick which vessel we would like to go on and we chose the Force 24 Regatta which only allow 4 people on board in total at anytime. After putting on the life jackets, we took a jet boat further out into the Newcastle Harbor where we were later transferred onto the Force 24 Regatta with a young and handsome Sailor who learned how to sail since he was young. Very talented boy. He taught us the Sailing Rules and gave us clear instructions on how to maneuver the Force 24 Regatta by pulling the ropes. We also went on board another small boat with a really large steering wheel. We all learned how to take the helm, work on the grinders, trim the sails acting as crew on the vessel. It was also a great way for team-bonding among all on board as we had to listen to instructions carefully and cooperate with one another. After sailing, we enjoyed some delicious BBQ sausages sandwich in the clubhouse and drank plenty of water to hydrate ourselves.

PHOTO-TAKING and SELFIES - It was my first time sailing and I managed to convinced the others with my professional persuasion skills to allow me to bring along my iPhone 5 so I can take lots of photos and videos to share with all of you my virgin sailing experience. It was definitely a lot of fun, excitement and some hard work involved. Enjoy the photos and videos below!

SAILING EXPERIENCE - Sailing is really a unique experience that is fun, challenging and some parts relaxing. If you have not sailed before, do find some time to try Sailing as I had a really exciting and memorable experience. After all, life is all about exciting new experiences so why not try Sailing? It was fun and relaxing to cruise along the calm waters in Newcastle Harbour and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It was also nice to sail along the waters alongside other water vessels and yachts. Sailing is definitely an interesting sport to enjoy the beauty of the waters and for an unforgettable experience.

Celebrating Halloween 2014 in Singapore by Sara Shantelle Lim - Halloween Celebrations have a ubiquitous presence in our World and few of us know the true origin and meaning of Halloween which in actual fact revolves around a ceremony of honouring our ancestors and the day of the dead. It is believed that during this time, the worlds between the living and the dead meet and where some are able to "see" the other side of life. Yet, the modern Halloween is quite the opposite where people all around the World seize the opportunity to dress up wearing costumes that are not only out of this world, scary, cute and some simply hilarious! Halloween has been transformed from a sombre pagan ritual to a day of merriment, celebration, costumes, parades and "trick or treating" for children.

"Trick or Treating" - A customary practice for children during Halloween where they dressed up in costumes and knock on doors from house to house asking for sweet treats. "Trick" is often an idle threat to perform mischief on the home-owners if no treat is given. In America, Halloween celebrations are very elaborated where many home-owners take loads of time and effort to decorate their entire homes with plastic skeletons, artificial spider-webs, pumpkins etc. and children were invited into their homes for a "scare". A few years ago, I was lucky to celebrate Halloween in NEW YORK and visited many haunted homes for trick or treating and it was such a memorable experience.

Halloween in Singapore - Unlike the United States, Halloween in Singapore is celebrated mostly in night clubs instead of visiting homes. Singapore's number 1 club - ZOUK is famously known to have the biggest Halloween celebrations where annually, regular party-goers dress up in an elaborate affair renting costumes from costume shops or simply buying them online. I remember how the club had an entire chilling effect over me as though I was entering a haunted mansion filled with ghosts, zombies and walking corpses with blood stains on their clothes on body. While others do their best to look scary, I like to remain decent looking despite wearing a costume. So here I am in a Sailor costume for this year's Halloween celebrations where I attended a house party, ventured into FENIX ROOM and BANG BANG. It was quite a fun night hanging out with my girlfriends who were all fabulously dressed up in their unique costumes as well.

Recently, I stumbled across this amazing website - www.PaintMeReal.com that allows me to paint my own portrait at an incredible price. I've always wanted to have a picture of myself painted like Mona Lisa. When I was still an air stewardess, whenever I travelled overseas, I loved to get myself painted or drawn by street artists in New York's Central Park. There are plenty of talented street-side artists, cartoonist, and sculptors along the park.

If you are lucky, you will be able to find a cartoonist to SKETCH you at around USD$30-$50 for a piece, but that is just a simple cartoon version of you. It is not a classy FINE ART Professional Portrait. I've actually checked with quite a few artists in Singapore, if they could have me painted. They all quoted, SGD$300-$400 a piece. I thought that, that was a little expensive!
