ABU DHABI - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

ABU DHABI - The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is Abu Dhabi's most precious gem. It is named "The Grand Mosque" due to its global unifying element as from its initial stages of planning to its completion, it has brought together designers and materials from around the globe that include Italy, Germany, Morocco, Iran, Turkey, India, China, Greece and UAE. The mosque can accommodate 41,000 worshipers from its prayers hall and the 17,000 square metres courtyard which is paved with coloured floral marble and beautiful mosaics. As a sign of respect, visitors had to put on long black clothings, provided by the Mosque to cover up as it is afterall, a place of worship. The opulent mosque is the size of 5 football fields.

This architectural work of art is one of the World's largest and grandest mosque which is intricately designed with the finest Italian white marble and other natural materials such as stone, gold, semi-precious stones and crystals. The mosque features 80 domes decorated with white marble. Its main prayer hall features the World's largest hand-woven Persian carpet measuring 7,119 square metres, costing around USD 8.2 million dollars.

The most interesting feature is that the mosque features seven 24-carat gold-plated chandeliers which were imported from Germany, each designed with thousands of Swarovski crystals. The main prayer hall features the World's largest chandeliers measuring 10 metres in diameter, 15 metres in height and weighing 8-9 tonnes in weight.

FINE FOOD: Triple Three @ Mandarin Orchard – Norwegian Seafood Celebration Feast with Guest Chef Adrian Løvold from the Kingdom of Norway

Triple Three Buffet @ Mandarin Orchard Hotel at Level 5
Celebration of Seafood from Norway
Guest Chef Adrian Løvold from the Kingdom of Norway

My family and I always patronise Mandarin Orchard Hotel for our family dinners. We are members of this hotel group and we enjoy special discounts and privileges. Their food and wine is of top notched quality! Just 2 days ago, the hotel invited a Special Chef from Norway - Adrian Lovold to celebrate a special event at Triple Three. They served very fresh seafood from Norway and I must say, the chef is really cute too!

Celebration of Seafood from Norway
Guest Chef Adrian Løvold from the Kingdom of Norway
From 12 to 28 March 2013
SGD$128++ per pax

For a period of only a few weeks, savor an amalgam of signature Scandinavian delicacies and seafood at Triple Three at Mandarin Orchard Hotel Singapore, Level 5. It is a Norway Seafood Buffet, whereby they bring both a wide variety of seafood and Guest Chef Adrian, who is only 26 years old this year.

My girlfriends - Cindy, Iris and I met at Bar on 5 for drinks and we chanced upon this dinner buffet. We were absolutely tempted and bought over by photos of their fresh seafood and huge Alaskan Crab.

We enjoyed a wonderful and sumptuous seafood feast which included Freshly Shucked Oysters, Alantic Lobsters, Blue Mussels, Deep Sea Sweet Prawns, King Alaskan Crab, Scallops fresh off the Nordic Seas.

There was an array of smoked hors d'oeuvres and Japanese dishes with a Scandinavian twist, such as their Saba Mackerel Maki Roll.

They also have a variety of Fresh Sashimi and a colourful set of Sushi for us to feast on. The highlight of the Norwegian themed buffet dinner was Chef Adrian's creations of his famous Salmon and Asparagus with Brown Butter Emulsion, Steamed Saithe with Mushroom Stew and a wide selection of tasty and cute little desserts and pastries.

Triple Three have always been famous of their Roasted Beef and Ham, whereby the chef there would slice a piece of their tender and juicy meat to satisfy your taste palates. Their sauces were specially prepared and heated by the side of the cutting board to maintain its taste and consistency.

We made friends with the drop dead gorgeous Chef Adrian and we would definitely be seeing him again soon. You can actually watch him cook just behind the food counters. He's really friendly! He would hop around tables to tables to ask for his food feedback  That's what I call, a real chef, who checks if his diners are enjoying his food. Overall, fantastic dining experience with top quality food and service.

For reservations, please call 6831 6288 or email dine.orchard@meritushotels.com.

Shopping with Girlfriend Pamela :)

So a friend of mine told me to post my normal mundane daily life so here it is! I didn't know people would wanna know what I do normally. On a daily basis, I cook everyday and I work 2 jobs on a part time basis. On days I don't work, I go shopping with my girlfriends or to have tea/coffee with them. I also go swimming, hit the gym as well as watching movies on my TV.

Today, I spent a lovely evening shopping at Queen Victoria Building and Westfield Pitt Street Mall with a Singaporean girlfriend Pamela. I bought a white furry hat with black ribbon and crystals from Temt while she bought a light blue shawl from Forever New. A simple but enjoyable evening :) So how was your day today? Hope it's as sweet as mine :)

SYDNEY - BBC Top Gear Festival in Sydney 2013

TOP GEAR FESTIVAL 2013 in SYDNEY - Launched for the very first time ever in Sydney, the spectacular event took place at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek on 9 and 10th March 2013. Australia is only the second country to ever host a Top Gear Festival and I was extremely excited to attend the event. I went for the grand opening day on the 9th of March and I was in awe at the festival highlights which simply took my breath away. With incredible Top Gear stars comprising Jeremy Clarkson, James May, The Stig, F1 driver Mark Webber etc. and loads of exotic cars doing challenging stunts, what more can you ask for? On top of everything, thank God for the beautiful weather as it was a hot sunny day with no rain. Official website at http://www.topgearfestivalsydney.com.au/

My personal favorite was to watch the Car versus Plane on the racing track at really high speeds. It was Jamie Whincup's V8 supercar versus Top gun stunt pilot Mark Hall. It was something more interesting than watching the various racing cars going at extremely dangerous speeds on the racing track. I also enjoyed watching F1 driver Mark Webber showing off his F1 driving skills around the circuit in his Red Bull F1 Car in an attempt to break the record and my my he was amazingly fast and furious! The crowd was cheering him on and he beat the record in his very first attempt. To end off, Mark Webber also drifted dangerously right in front of the crowd and it was highly exhilarating!

Besides watching the Festival highlights filled with racing cars and dangerous car stunts, I also visited the Stig's Supercar Garage where many exotic cars were featured. It showcases the world's most expensive and powerful cars. Look what I spotted? A bright yellow Pagandi Zonda!!! Other booths consisted of car insurance, car polish and even car sales/rental. You can even take a helicopter ride as well as rent a Segway.

Oh another interesting thing was I found a beautiful white Ferrari and it kinda inspired me to perhaps considering modifying my red Ferrari F360? This white beauty looks so elegant and the pink leather seats and pink number plate makes it really feminine isn't it?

In the midst of the festival, I managed to hop onto the racing track to capture these photos without getting run down by any racing cars! It was great to stand on the race tracks and smell the burning rubber. It was a memorable event and I enjoyed the experience despite perspiring under the hot scorching sun. A unique and electrifying event indeed!

P.S: I was almost deaf by the end of the festival with ringing ears..I think you could guess why!

Lastly, I should be reading the Top Gear Magazine - March 2013 issue for the next few days and the highlight of the issue is why the Lexus LFA which costs AUD $750,000 is the "Best Car I've Ever Driven" by Jeremy Clarkson. The Lexus LFA V10 engine revs from idle to the redline in just 0.6 of a second which makes it an incredible fast car. At a speed of 100km/h, Jeremy's ears were bleeding as the engine was howling at 3000 rpm.

Wagaya Tapas in Newtown, Sydney

Wagaya Tapas in Newtown - This chic Japanese restaurant has just been newly opened on 15 Jan 2013 and it has created quite a buzz with their reasonably priced delicious Japanese dishes designed to share among friends. Their food is fresh and delicious and I love the beautiful sleek design of the restaurant. The wooden tables and clean design creates a rather zen atmosphere. This restaurant definitely stands out from other restaurants in Newtown as one that prides itself with quality food, service and restaurant ambience. I enjoyed dining here with my classmates from University of Sydney. We tried many dishes together and were impressed as the food taste really yummy! Service was fast and efficient as order was taken by clicking an Apple iPad for tech-savvy customers. We were in the midst of ordering and was delightfully surprised when the first item we ordered arrived! That's how fast and efficient their service was! Simply Amazing!!!

We ordered several dishes to share. Their hotpots (Nabe) soup which cost around AUD12 each was sweet and their ingredients were really fresh. The lightly grilled Salmon Sushi (AUD9.90) was grilled to perfection as their simply melt in your mouth. Their large selection of sushi rolls were delicious and we were really spoilt for choice! The Potato and Pumpkin Gratin (AUD8.90) was a unique dish and the melted cheese tasted heavenly! Personally, I love the Seaweed salad (AUD6.50) as it tasted tangy, refreshing and hearty! Japanese Seaweed salad is a healthy dish that is packed with nutrients like fiber, vitamins and iron.

Check out their website at http://www.wagaya.com.au/ and you can make reservations online to avoid the long queues at their restaurant. It can get pretty crowded at times and it is no wonder why! They have a large selection of interesting cocktails where you can order a drink based on your Birth Stone. I loved the Iced Green Tea Latte (AUD4.90). Other unique drinks include "Cinderella Blue Moon", "Tequila Sunrise", "First Love", "Ninja Turtle", "Kamikaze Blue", "China Kiss" etc. Their drinks looked really pretty! With such funny drink names, I guess you can laugh and drink at the same time. What an intelligent way to entice and delight customers! Check out their entire Drinks menu at http://www.wagaya.com.au/img/wagaya_drink.jpg

Poco Loco Mexican Restaurant in Leichhardt, Sydney

Poco Loco Mexican Restaurant - It was my first time visiting Leichhardt also known as "Little Italy" in Sydney. Instead of indulging in a hearty Italian dinner, we stumbled upon this uniquely themed Mexican Restaurant called Poco Loco. It is newly opened this month! It was a beautifully decorated restaurant with cute little cactus and Mexican hats on every table. The entire feel was a colourful, vibrant, quirky, fun restaurant that looks appealing to passersby.  I was drawn into the restaurant and I was not disappointed.

I ordered the sizzling Fajita with beef (Aud19) as well as the Quesaedilla with Chicken (Aud14) and my my, they tasted so deliciously good and I was impressed. The beef and chicken were cooked to perfection. This could be the best Mexican food I ever tasted in Sydney! The soft warm flour tortillas were baked fresh from the oven for a true authentic Mexican taste.  The portions were generous and I had to take away the food as I could not finish! Great value for money! Unlike other Mexican Restaurants in Sydney that are mostly small, cramp and packed with noisy crowd, this restaurant was spacious. I enjoyed dining in peace without feeling rushed or having to yell across the table just to be heard. A relaxing dining experience to end the night.

Oh yes, it was also easy to park along Norton Street so yes, I will definitely be back!

Location: Poco Loco is located beside Palace Cinemas at 99 Norton Street, Leichhardt, Sydney
