The Ferrari California is a grand touring continental sports car. It is loved by all car fanatics. It is small, sleek and chic. Surprisingly, this is a 2 Doors car, but it may be able to fit 4 people. It is a hard top convertible and is powered by a front-mid mounted gasoline direct injection 4.3L V8 with 460PS. This California was a new name given to a late 1950s Ferrari 250 GT, and was launched in 2008 Paris Motor Show.
Production
This Ferrari California is built in Maranello. There are more than 5000 Californias in the first 2 years o production. It is sold out in 2011, with 60% of buyers new to Ferrari.
Design
This Ferrari California has introduced many first for the Ferrari cars:
- first front engined Ferrari with a V8
- first 7-speed dual-clutch transmission
- first folding mental roof
- first multi-link rear suspension
- first direct petrol injection
Performance
Top Speed: 310km/h (193mph)
0-100km/h: 3.9 seconds (same as the F430)
FUN FACT: This Ferrari California was being tested for over 1,000 hours in the wind tunnel with a one-third-scale model of the real car, perfecting its Aerodynamics.
Personal Thoughts: This Ferrari California looks hot in Red, like all other Ferraris. The sound of the engine would tease all car lovers, people will definitely take a second look when you drive pass. It is a smooth car, as compared to a Lamborghini, but not comparable to the smoothness and comfort of a Bentley GT Sports. Although it is a 4 seater car, I think it is only comfortable to seat 2 people. The space behind is really very tight and limited, maybe 2 kids is fine.
