Additionally, medical grade facials utlizing tested and effective Korean products and techniques for specific skin conditions have been intelligently developed by Dr. Michael Kim which helps further customize and personalize skin treatments and solutions for clients. I was really excited to visit the 1st Korean Aesthetic Clinic newly open in Singapore. As most of you know, Korea is a famous medical tourist destination where many tourists visit to do aesthetic and plastic surgeries. Korean doctors are famously known for their professional skills and expertise in the aesthetics and beauty area. In general, Korean doctors are not allowed to practice their aesthetic or plastic surgery treatments in Singapore but Doctor Michael Kim has accomplished himself by being the first and only Korean clinic, legally approved and recognized by the strict Singapore government and authorities. Well, the great news now is that instead of flying down to Korea, you can visit this clinic to receive professional care by a highly trained and skilled Korean Aesthetic Doctor - Michael Kim.

Dr Michael Kim graduated from the Seoul National University. The American born Korean spent 8 years in Singapore, serving under the National Healthcare Group (NHG). Dr Kim is also a member of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) and College of Family Physicians Singapore (CFPS). He has acquired certification in Aesthetic Medicine by the Dermatological Society of Singapore (DSS), Singapore National Skin Centre (NSC) and Singapore Aesthetic Dermatology Educational Group (ADEG). Doctor Kim is also certified member of The America Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM), a member of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology and Member of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine (SAM) of SIngapore.
I was really impressed by Doctor Kim as speaks really good American English. He is extremely friendly, patient and understanding. He listened to my concerns and provided me with various suitable solutions to choose.

When I walked into AEON Medical & Aesthetic Centre, I felt like I have entered a mini "Korean Land". All the staff there are Koreans - the counter girl, the nurses, the aestheticians, and of couse, Doctor Michael Kim. As we all know, Koreans are literally the BEST when it comes to Beauty and Aesthetics, I felt really safe to try a LASER Treatment for the 1st time in my life. I've never done any laser treatments for my skin before, but I've heard a lot of good reviews, that laser treatments may help to tighten pores, eliminate pimples, and resurfaces a clean and clear baby skin. The clinic interiors were also modern and beautifully designed to create a professional setting as well as a relaxing environment for patients.

Although "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder" and may be highly subjective, one's skin health and condition may be scientifically tested and mathematically calculated, by using high technology, VISIA. This is a complimentary skin analysis procedure that Doctor Kim, currently provides to all his patients, so that he can have accurate information of our skin, before he advice us on what aesthetic treatments may suit us best. Talk about being hi-tech and having the best in modern technology equipments!
VISIA's multi-point camera positions allow it to capture my skin's condition from 3 points of angle. This allows VISIA Skin Analysis to capture my frontal, left and right sides of my face, so that no portion of my facial skin is left untreated. Multi-spectral lighting is used to allow optimum clarity on capturing one's skin conditions, which is not visible to the naked eyes. VISIA allows them to measure surface and subsurface of our skin, which includes, UV rays damages, skin texture, wrinkles, brown spots, pores, hyper-pigmentation, acne & bacteria distributions, rosacea and spider veins.
Percentiles Scores are given for each condition, using an extensive world-wide data to compare my skin to the rest of the world, that is of my age.
My score is as follows:

HOW DOES VISIA WORKS?
The higher the percentage = The better your skin is.
So the pretty Korean nurse explained to me that, my skin texture is 98%, which is really good, just like baby's skin! It is almost closed to perfection. 100% is the perfect score. Hence, as you can tell, my UV Spots is 39%, which means my UV Spots skin damages is really bad. It means that I need to put in more effort to protect my skin from UV rays.

When I finally, get to see Doctor Michael Kim, he explained to me my skin's health and condition very scientifically and clearly. He went through with me patiently, on what's wrong with my skin.
He showed me some very interesting pictures of how my skin could be better and improved, with certain aesthetic care and treatments. He also showed me some scary and shocking images of how my skin could end up one day, if I do not start taking care of my skin today. This VISIA Skin Analysis, is able to show you how you may look like, 5-10 years down the road, if nothing is done to protect your skin. Trust me, you would want to put in more effort to taking good care of your skin after he educates you and enlightens you on the severity of the damages our sun could do to our skin. Not to forget, the process of ageing, which every one has to go through requires extra care for our own delicate skin.

I was really excited. I had no idea how laser would feel like. I've always imagined it to be painful and burning hot. Doctor Kim, was very patient and kind, to test the laser treatment on the surface of my hand first. I am generally very timid, when it comes to such a procedure. He was really smart to play very relaxing and soothing JAZZ music, while he distracts with me Norah Jones music.

I thought I looked really funny, as they prepared my face for the laser toning and laser peeling treatments. They covered my eyebrows, to ensure that my eyebrow hair don't get burnt away by the laser.

CLARITY PEEL
To tighten my open pores and to reduce oil production
An innovative new aesthetic protocol that delivers the benefits of more aggressive and effective procedure without discomfort or downtime. This treatment provides photo-thermal heat from the laser energy by stimulating the outermost surface of the skin, by heat, while it gently exfoliates, to resurface new skin. This is treatment is important, as this helps to tighten my open pores. The heat from the laser will effect the elasticity of the open pores. It triggers the pores to be "active" - to close up.
This photo-mechanical stimulation enhances the texture of the skin, while it helps me to reduce oil production, which is essential if you want to tighten your pores. The less oil you produce, the less open pores. This is effective for oily skin areas, such as the nose, forehead, chin and cheeks areas.
STEP 4
CLARITY TONING
To reduce sun spots and hyper-pigmentation
Clarity Toning uses a ultra short dual pulse Nd: YAG laser that has been proven effective for the treatment of hypermelonosis (sun spots & hyper-pigmentation). Melasma is a common skin disorder found in ASIAN skin. What I like most is that it treats skin tone and texture with virtually NO DOWN TIME (which is most important to me, as my daily schedule is crazy packed, I cannot afford any peeling for days, etc). It has minimum risk or side effects. The laser energy breaks down the melanin in the skin cells, so that it may then be easily removed by our body's immune system naturally.

IS CLARIFY PEEL & TONING TREATMENT PAINFUL?
No anesthesia is needed as it isn't painful at all. What I felt was just a warm and prickling feeling on my surface of my skin. It felt a little itchy at the beginning, but after 10 seconds of being in the process, you will just get used to the feeling. There's no risk of infection of scabbing. This session takes about 15-20 minutes.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED BEFORE I CAN SEE SIGNIFICANT RESULTS?
Treatment of pigmentation is a gradual process which requires time and effort by both the doctor and patient. Beauty does not come immediately (unless you go for plastic surgery), it is a process that takes time and dedication. As everyone has different severity of skin disorder, the number of treatments varies for each patient. 10 sessions of Clarity Peel Toning is recommended for most patients for them to see significant results in skin's conditions. Each session should be done between 1-2 weeks time.
STEP 5
POST-LASER MEDICAL SKIN CARE
What I really like about this treatment is that, they have a very comfortable post-laser medical skin care treatment after the LASER Treatment. This is done to reduce any redness or skin irritation and downtime. AEON Medical & Aesthetic Centre has their own wide range of skin care products, which they use to help cool and sooth the skin.
POST HEALING PROCESS
Red & Blue Light Treatment
This post laser treatment also helps to enhances the "killing" the unwanted bacteria which causes pimples and acne to form. It also speeds up the healing process of the skin and aids to promote a softer, lighter and refreshing me! It also helps to calms their patients nerves, while some of them (like me), may feel anxious about the whole process, although there was no pain at all the entire process.
AEON MAKE UP ROOM
After which, I was led to their "Make Up" Room, whereby I was able to blow my hair and apply my make up, to go straight out for another event meeting in the evening. I love this room, its brightly lit with a huge mirror, with combs and hair dryer, hair ties, cotton buts, a wash basin etc. By the way, I really loved their basin, the water tap lights up, when you turn on the running water. How cool is that!?
AEON POST TREATMENT VIP LOUNGE
Most patients would be offered a cup of coffee or tea to relax in their VIP Lounge, before they leave to do some shopping in town, but I asked for a glass of milk. I don't really drink anything with caffeine, hence milk is my all time favourite and usual drink at most places.
