Singapore Straits Times - 22 March 2020

Singapore Straits Times - 22 March 2020

Coronavirus: All short-term visitors barred from entering or transiting in Singapore from Monday, 11.59pm

SINGAPORE - All short-term visitors will no longer be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore from 11.59pm on Monday (March 23) in view of the heightened risks of importing coronavirus cases into the country.

Work pass holders and their dependants will be allowed to return to Singapore only if they work in sectors that provide essential services such as healthcare and transport.

This will also kick in at 11.59pm on Monday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Sunday.

The measures were announced a day after two patients - a 75-year-old Singaporean woman and a 64-year-old Indonesian man - died from Covid-19 due to complications. They were the first deaths the Republic has seen in the Covid-19 outbreak.

National Development Minister Lawrence Wong said at a briefing on Sunday morning that the measures to "significantly tighten" Singapore's borders are taken in the light of the rapidly escalating virus outbreak around the world.

Previously, except for a handful of countries, short-term visitors from elsewhere were allowed to come into Singapore but were issued a 14-day stay-home notice (SHN) upon arrival.

This meant, however, that resources were being expended to serve and enforce SHNs on them, and if they fell ill, to provide them with medical treatment. On Saturday, there were still 533 short-term visitors arriving in Singapore.

To date, there are more than 260,000 Covid-19 cases across 185 countries, and around 11,200 deaths.

The MOH said that in Singapore, almost 80 per cent of new Covid-19 cases over the past three days were imported, most of them Singapore residents and long-term pass holders returning home from abroad.

These imported cases had travel histories to 22 different countries.

There were 432 cases of coronavirus patients in Singapore as of Saturday evening. A total of 140 cases have fully recovered. Of the 290 patients still in hospital, most are stable or improving, but 14 are in critical care.

What is Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)?
As explained on WHO website.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.

Porto Dom Luis Bridge Portugal
Luís I Bridge, Pte. Luiz I, 4000 Porto, Portugal

Dr VT and I took these photos in March 2019, hence the weather in Portugal was cold. I was literally freezing when we took these photos. It was even much colder when we went over to the Light House during sunset. As you can see in the last few pictures, I had to wear VT's jacket. We were both freezing as the sea winds and waves were really strong that day. I was wearing winter boots throughout the whole photoshoot. It was way too cold to be wearing any nice high heels, etc. It was really fun and memorable. We had an awesome time here in Porto.

Singapore Jewel Changi Airport - The Rain Vortex

The Singapore Rain Vortex is an indoor waterfall in Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore which was opened on 17 April 2019. It is the world's largest indoor waterfall at 40 metres in height and surrounded by a four-storey terraced forest. The waterfall and Jewel complex was designed by Moshe Safdie.

This bridge is the most significant bridge in Porto. The Dom Luís I Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte de Dom Luís I), or Luís I Bridge, is a double-deck metal arch bridge that spans the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal.

At its construction, its 172 metres (564 ft) span was the longest of its type in the world. It has been confused with the nearby Maria Pia Bridge, a railway bridge that was built 9 years earlier (and located 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the east), that is similar in aspect to the Luís I bridge.

Two decks of varying lengths: 172 metres (564 ft) (lower deck) and 395.25 metres (1,296.8 ft).

The bridge is situated in an isolated, urban area over the River Douro between the granite banks, where the Cathedral of Porto and the escarpment of the Serra do Pilar, forming a box valley. It is 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from the bridge of D. Maria Pia and, farther along, the Arrábida Bridge.

On the Porto side, the lower deck connects the Cais da Ribeira and the upper Avenida Vímara Peres, while the bank of Vila Nova de Gaia to the Avenida Diogo Leite and Avenida da República, respectively. Access to the Porto side is located along the Pillars of Ponte Pênsil, while the Guindais Funicular, the Church and Shelter of Ferro, the Fernandina Walls and the Monastery of Serra do Pilar.

The iron bridge has two decks, of differing heights and widths, between which develop a large 172.5 metres (566 ft) diameter, central arch supporting these upper and lower decks. Both decks are moored to the riverbanks by means of masonry piers.

Those in the upper deck, are rectangular with a trimmed cornice finish, consisting of two staggered registers separated by cornice and interlacing struts. The lower deck is based on large foundations supporting molded cornices and wedges linked together by a felled arch, and framed by interlacing beams.

At the base of the arches, facing the riverbanks, are large marble plaques with inscriptions "PONTE LUIZ I", and on the upstream face are stones representing royal coat-of-arms, with a shield framed by garlands.

At the base of the lower deck, are iron-pillared, pyramidal-truncated pillars, erected in three sections, that attach to the upper deck.

The bridge has an asphalt pavement for vehicular traffic, separated by cast iron guards, that limit the pedestrian sidewalks, that develop laterally.

The upper deck, also paved in asphalt and flanked by pedestrian walkways in stonework protected with cast iron guards (similar to the lower deck). From this deck are lamps used for illumination, confronting and connected, forming decorative circles at the angles. Under the guard is cut-out-like lambrequin decorated with phytomorphic elements.

In 1879, Gustave Eiffel presented a project to construct a new bridge over the Douro, with a single deck in order to facilitate navigation. This project was rejected due to dramatic growth of the urban population, which required a re-thinking of the limits of a single-deck platform.

How many bridges are in Porto?
six bridges
Get to know the six bridges of Porto that connect the cities of Porto and Gaia on the Douro River. More than serving as a link between the two cities, the six bridges of Porto are unforgettable landmarks of the city's history, being works full of stories and curiosities.

This bridge has 2 levels. This picture was taken on the lower deck, and you can see that it is a very busy road. There are lots of cars and pedestrians crossing this Douro River everyday. We were pretty lucky to get a good photo shoot of this place.

The Porto Luis Bridge in the Night Fall

This photo was taken on the TOP level of the Porto Luis Bridge. It was around 10pm, hence, there were very little cars, and we managed to take a photo in the middle of the road. There were train tracks too. But I didn't see any tram on it. We had to climb like at least 100 steps to get from the bottom of the Bridge to the top of the bridge for this picture. It was a pretty good exercise after our dinner with our photographer.

Porto City Residential Area

Around Porto Luis Bridge area, there are quite a number of houses. You can see people hanging their laundry and what nots. I think that they are really lucky to be able to stay near the Bridge, as I think the Luis Bridge area is like their Orchard Road. Seems like, it is one of their most happening place to hang out at.

Some quiet lanes in between these residential houses near Porto Luis Bridge.

Along the Douro River

You can see many little boats and water restaurants, parked along the river side. The streets along the river are pack with tourists.

This 19th-century hexagonal lighthouse on the Douro River is 10 m. tall & constructed of granite.

It was really cold!!!

So if you are wondering, what is Magnetic Lashes and Magnetic Eyeliner?
Why is everyone raving over these high-tech Magnetic Lashes

Well, some genius, decided that traditional glue is just too evasive! People who uses glue to stick their falsie lashes on, will without fail, experience the "pulling" of their own lashes off, when they are removing the false lash from their eyes.  No matter how careful you are, the glue will always go onto your own lashes, and removing it can be a hassle, and even painful to some people.

Hence, the latest new method that just changed the entire eyelash market now, is using Magnetic Eyelashes. This latest technology magnetic lashes just completely disrupted the entire falsie lash industry. It is just too easy to use, no one will want to use glue ever again.

Anyone that have tried using magnetic lashes, will never go back to using GLUE. Glue is simply just too evasive, too sticky, too wet, too difficult to use. You need so much time and effort to put the glue on the lash, not too much or not to little, or it does not stick at all. Use too much glue, and then it might even enter your eyes. Oh my.. There is just simply so many reasons I can think of, that made this genius think out of the box and come up with something better.
Everyone I know around me uses either falsie lashes, or eyelash extensions.

Girls wearing falsie lashes or eyelash extensions its the "new normal".
What's mascara seriously? In future, no one will use mascara anymore.
Its just too sticky and wet, and troublesome. Too much effort!

Who does't want to look prettier?
We ALL do!
So read on, to understand this new beauty trend.

So what am I holding here? It is a CHROME BOX of miracle! This is my latest range of beauty products. I used to only supply skincare, haircare, and bodycare to aesthetic doctors and spa owners (B2B Business to Business), but due to covid-19, I've decided to start selling some of my selective range of products to direct consumers (B2C Business to Consumers)

Supplying beauty products and machines have been my family business for over 20++ years.
We are a PIONEER in the Beauty Industry in Singapore.

I'm holding a box of Magnetic Diamond Mink Lashes in my hands.
Magnetic Lashes are so easy to use that you only need 5 seconds to put them on.
Let's talk about what is inside this beautiful box, and I will share with you on how you can apply it and put them on in awhile. Yes, we also have videos to show you, how easy it is, to wear these beautiful magnetic lashes.

WHAT IS IN SARASHANTELLE MAGNETIC LASH BOX SET?
- 3 pairs of high quality magnetic diamond faux mink lashes
- 1 magnetic eyeliner
- 1 applicator

HOW TO USE SARASHANTELLE MAGNETIC DIAMOND LASHES?
2 Simple Steps:
Step 1 - Draw 1mm-2mm SaraShantelle Magnetic Eyeliner onto your eyelids.
Step 2 - Gently use applicator to stick Magnetic lashes onto the Magnetic Eyeliner drawn on your eyelids. The Magnetic Lashes will be attracted to the Magnetic Liner easily.

Why do you need to apply 1mm to 2mm magnetic eyeliner on your eyelids?

The magnetic lashes will need to be attracted by the magnetic eyeliner. Please ensure that the magnetic eyeliner line that you draw on your eyelids is thick enough for sufficient surface area to attract the lashes magnets, so that the magnetic force will work.

Well, that's pretty common sense. The magnet on the lashes is already around 0.7mm thick, if you are going to draw a 0.3mm THIN eyeliner line on your lids, is it going to stick? NO, obviously not

Logicallyyou need to draw a magnetic line whereby the surface area of the magnets from the lashes, is able to be attracted to, to stick well.

hehe~ don't be a clown okay? Don't try to stick the magnetic lashes to "non existent magnetic eyeliner". Silly.. I don't even know why I would need to explain this, but yeah, SOME people do ask.. *Faints*

My girlfriend, Rachel (@rachieboo84), did an awesome instructional video on how to put on SaraShantelle Magnetic Diamond Lashes. It is so easy to use. If you have any questions about how to use the lashes, please feel free to PM her on her Instagram and Facebook page to find out more. If you want to order, please also PM her to order too.
Rachel is one of SaraShantelle Beauty Products trusted Diamond Distributor.

HOW TO REMOVE MAGNETIC EYELASHES?
- Simply gently tuck on it, pull off the magnetic lashes from the magnetic eyeliner.

HOW TO REMOVE MAGNETIC EYELINER?

- Our magnetic eyeliner is waterproof, hence, an eye makeup removal would work better.
- Normal water based makeup removal, will work too, but oil-based removal, works more efficiently.
