(London Part 3)

London is one of my favourite countries. I can go to London once a year and I'm never tired of it. There's always so much to do there. Things that I would never miss out in London - Fish & Chips, Musicals & Texas Holdem Poker.

Crown Jewels of London at The Tower of London

The Tower of London, officially Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded towards the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest of England. It is famous for being the home of The Crown Jewels.

The Crown Jewels

The Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom, originally the Crown Jewels of England, are 140 royal ceremonial objects kept in the Tower of London, which include the regalia and vestments worn by British kings and queens at their coronations.

Symbols of 800 years of monarchy, the coronation regalia are the only working set in Europe other present-day monarchies have abandoned coronations in favour of secular ceremonies and the collection is the most historically complete of any regalia in the world.

The White Tower

The White Tower, which gives the entire castle its name, was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 and was a resented symbol of oppression, inflicted upon London by the new ruling elite. The White Tower is a keep (also known as a donjon), which was often the strongest structure in a medieval castle, and contained lodgings suitable for the lord – in this case, the king or his representative. According to military historian Allen Brown, "The great tower was also, by virtue of its strength, majesty and lordly accommodation, the donjon par excellence". As one of the largest keeps in the Christian world, the White Tower has been described as "the most complete eleventh-century palace in Europe".

The castle was used as a prison from 1100 (Ranulf Flambard) until 1952 (Kray twins), although that was not its primary purpose. A grand palace early in its history, it served as a royal residence. As a whole, the Tower is a complex of several buildings set within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat. There were several phases of expansion, mainly under Kings Richard I, Henry III, and Edward I in the 12th and 13th centuries. The general layout established by the late 13th century remains despite later activity on the site.

The Tower of London has played a prominent role in English history. It was besieged several times, and controlling it has been important to controlling the country. The Tower has served variously as an armoury, a treasury, a menagerie, the home of the Royal Mint, a public record office, and the home of the Crown Jewels of England. From the early 14th century until the reign of Charles II, a procession would be led from the Tower to Westminster Abbey on the coronation of a monarch.

Walking around London Streets

Taking a picture with the London Phone Booth is a MUST!

Cafe Concerto Piccadilly
29-31 Piccadilly, Mayfair, London W1J 0LF, UK

Its always awesome to have friends around the world. I met my friends Anthony for a hearty breakfast at Cafe Concerto. They have a wide range of desserts. Their hot chocolate and expresso is a must try.

Ridley's Believe it or Not

Of course, when you visit London, don't forget to visit their Ridley's Believe it or Not attraction. 2 hours at this attraction is more than enough. But beware, you would be dumbfounded and shocked by some of their findings.

Books of Mormons The Musical

Whenever I fly to London, I would make it a point to watch at least 2-3 Musicals each trip. Books of Mormons is rumored to be one of the best selling musical, it is constantly SOLD OUT everyday. But it is a little vulgar, hence I would say that it is probably rated RA standard, due to a lot of vulgarities. If you are  going to young children, please watch Charlie and The Chocolate Factory or Matilda instead. This musical is more suited for the mature and open minded crowd.

MUSICAL - The Sound of Music @ Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Sara Shantelle Lim watching The Sound Of Music Musical

MUSICAL - The Sound of Music @ Marina Bay Sands Singapore - One of the World's best loved Musical - The Sound of Music arrived in Singapore and I spent a wonderful evening watching it with my beloved cousin Jacqueline. Watching a dazzling and fantastic musical production brings me great joy and enjoyment as I am captivated by the beautiful music and catching songs. No matter how busy my schedule is, I will always find time to watch my all time favourite musicals!

The Sound Of Music - Originated from the home of West End Musical Theatre, the famous London Palladium, The Sound of Music tells the inspiring story of Maria , a fun-loving governess who transformed the lives of Captain Con Trapp and his 7 children by using the magical influence of music. She taught Captain Con Trapp how to love and his children how to sing. The original 1959 Broadway production of The Sound of Music has won 6 Tony Awards which includes  "Best Musical Award" which was Rogers and Hammerstein's biggest success in their entire career. The 1965 movie staring Julie Andrews as Marie has won a total of 5 OSCARS Acardemy Awards has remain one of the most popular and well-loved movies of all time.

This legandary musical features famous memorable songs such as "Edelweiss", "Do-Re-Mi", "My favourite things", "The Sound of Music" etc. and my all time favourite song is "Sixteen going on Seventeen". I still have most of the songs stuck in my head until now. After all, what makes a really good musical is the musical songs that capture the hearts of the audience which leaves a really lasting impression :)

Before we watched the Musical, we enjoyed a quiet catch-up dinner at High Society where the food was deliciously good. I ordered the Duck Confit while Jacqueline ordered the Burger and Fries. Great company and awesome food we were such happy girls.

Ah Boys to Men The Musical @ Resorts World Sentosa - VIP Gala Performance

Ah Boys to Men The Musical
Resorts World Sentosa
VIP Gala Performance

Ah Boys to Men The Musical  @ Resorts World Sentosa - I was delighted to attend Ah Boys to Men VIP Gala Performance at Resorts World Sentosa. Ah Boys to Men is my favourite Singapore Movie by Jack Neo. Talented Singapore Director - Jack Neo worked together with Irene Ang and Beatrice  Chia Richmond to produce an amusingly hilarious musical. It is VERY SINGAPOREAN, with the mix of English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien, Tamil but mostly the musical consists of official Singlish.

Special thanks to Kim Lim (Instagram@kimmylecute) for inviting me down with her to watch this musical. I loved this musical from the beginning to the end. The story line is very similar to the movie Ah Boys to Men. Very original, hilarious and highly entertaining!

I also bumped into Celebrity Blogger - Dawn Yang there. She looked gorgeous as usual in her lovely dress! My good friend Eri, also accompanied me for the night. We both loved the musical. I am going to bring my parents there to watch it with me again.

Ah Boys to Men Musical includes Ken Chow, IP Man, Aloysius Jin and Sergeant Ong. They turned into Wayang kings are they sing and dance their way through National Service. They impressed the audiences with their abilities to sing and dance LIVE. They are simply very talented!

Original cast from the movie, Tosh Zhang, Wang Weiliang, Maxi Lim and Naoh Yap, reprised their roles in this musical. Lead Singer Benjamin Kheng replaced Joshua Tan who is studying aboard. Other mediacorp celebrities like Liu Qianyi, Chua En Lai, Patricia Mok and Zhou Chong Qing, joined in the Tekong Musical, bringing jokes, joy and laughter into the whole musical.

Ah Boys to Men The Musical is the best musical that I have watched so far in Singapore. It is even better than some of the Broadway musicals that I have seen in New York and even London. It is a must watch musical for all Singaporeans! There is no better musical than Ah Boys to Men which every Singaporean may relate to. Their jokes are meant for us Singaporeans.

The songs in the musical were interestingly funny and contains Singlish with words like "Chao Keng" and "Cheong", which only Singaporeans may understand. Tourists or Ex Pats out there, no worries, there are subtitles on their screens if you would like a good laugh too!

This is a Musical that would bring families closer together. Watch it to experience a memorable family experience. Every single one, from the kids, teens, father, mother, uncle, aunty, even your grand parents would be able to understand their jokes.

A glimpse of Sergeant Ong (Tosh Zhang) Rapping

They may be quite a lot of dirty jokes, hence parents, who are a little concern over vulgar languages, please be reminded that this Musial is rated PG.

This is a Singapore Production. I am Singaporean. And I am really proud to be one.
Are you?

Light Seeker The RWS Musical + W Hotel Sentosa Cove Singapore WOW Fantastic Suite & WooBar

Resorts World Sentosa Light Seeker an RWS Musical
W Hotel Sentosa Cove Singapore
Woo Bar + Wow Suite

Light Seeker an RWS Musical @ Resorts World Sentosa - I love watching Musicals! The first musical I've watched is Les Miserables in Singapore. My favourite musical of all time is Legally Blonde which I watched at The Star Casino in Sydney. I also enjoyed watching The Wicked musical, which I've watched 3 times in total, in London. I appreciate the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies the musical too. I also watched the recent Notre Dame at The Marina Bay Sands.

Light Seeker The RWS Musical
Songs composed by Dick Lee

Last weekend, my girlfriend, Natasha and I went to check out Light Seeker musical at Resorts World Sentosa. It is a fantasy musical filled with colorful and elaborated backdrops and settings. It is one of the most mystical musicals I've seen so far. It is about a war between a petrifying warrior called the General who possesses a precious light energy that would make his Emperor more powerful. The General had to look for a little girl called, Nova, who has the ability to create The Light. After the General captured Nova, she enlightened him into a new world, where he has to make a choice, of being good or evil.

The Light Seeker songs were written by our Singaporean acclaimed song writer, Dick Lee, who has won a Golden Horse Award in 1996, and a Singapore Cultural Medallion in 2005, featuring an International cast of West End performers. Dick Lee is extremely talented and I love all his compositions. Dick Lee's music never fail to capture the hearts of the audience.

The ticket prices start from SGD$48 onwards.
Best seat tickets Premium tickets cost SGD$148 includes a drink and canapes.

W Hotel Sentosa Cove Singapore
Woo Bar

After the Light Seeker musical, Natasha and I went to W Hotel Singapore at Sentosa Cove. We had some drinks at their famous W Hotel WooBar. WooBar is located at their main lobby.

What's different about W Hotel is that, it is a very happening hotel, whereby they play "Club Music" at their hotel lobby. I think they play some "Trance" over the weekend nights. You are able to chill there, with amazing club music, yet laze around in a very cosy and comfortable environment.

W HOTEL Singapore - WooBar is located in the middle of the Hotel Lobby. Hence, this is officially the coolest hotel I've been to. I love the fries there and fried chicken there. They have a special wine tasting session that cost SGD$45 for 3 different glasses of wine. Their bottles of wine there starts from SGD$90 onwards.

W Hotel Sentosa Cove Singapore
WOW Fantastic Suite

W HOTEL WOW SUITE - I also stayed at W Hotel for 1 night. The W Hotel Wow Suite is really beautiful! Each hotel room in W Hotel is specially designed to be unique from the rest of their rooms. The hotel plays with a lot of flirty and whimsical designs. It's a very interesting hotel that is designed to amuse hotel guests in every way. Every corner of the hotel is worth to be shot by a camera.

Sara Shantelle's Video on W Hotel Singapore WOW Suite

Every single detail of the room was designed with much thought and consideration. The lights are fun and playful. The rooms have a really cozy feeling. I love the purple colour bed frames and floor lighting. I love the "hand", popping out from no where.

I also love their bedroom toilet, its large and spacious. They use Bliss for their toiletries. Their mirror is huge, it reminds me of the movie Mirror Mirror starring  famous Hollywood actress Julia Roberts. All girls would love staring in their clear reflection in such a huge mirror.

Each W Hotel WOW Suite has its own private lap pool, its really good for romantic couples to spend their night in their private pool, sipping delicious wine while you watch the view of the W Hotel Swimming Pool and The One Degree Fifteen Club.
