SYDNEY - Celebrating TEMASEK CLUB NSW 25th Anniversary and Singapore's National Day with Principal Sponsor SINGAPORE AIRLINES

SYDNEY - Celebrating TEMASEK CLUB NSW 25th Anniversary and Singapore's National Day with Principal Sponsor SINGAPORE AIRLINES - This event was held at Four Points by Sheraton Darling Harbour Hotel located in Sydney City and it is Temasek Club NSW second major event of the year ever since the Chinese Lunar New Year dinner held earlier this year. Charity proceeds from this event goes to Bear Cottage which provides palliative care, temporary respite, end of life care and bereavement support for families. Bear Cottage is also the only children's hospice in NSW, Australia which provides care for children with life-limiting conditions. More info at http://www.bearcottage.chw.edu.au/

There were many huge sponsors for this event which includes Singapore Airlines, Central Equity, Porsche Willoughby, Canterbury BMW, Dendy Cinemas, OCBC Bank, UOB Bank, Rodgers Reidy Chartered Accountants, Stamford Tyres, YEO's, Central Park, Frasers Property Australia, Alice's Makan, CBD Storage World Square, Mr Espresso, Bottomsup, Asia Pacific Mahjong, GNC Parramatta, PI Legal, INADA Massage Chair, Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, China Republic restaurant, Golden Century restaurant etc. This event also supports and contributes towards the Bear Cottage Charity and everyone is encouraged to buy Raffle Tickets as part of donating to Charity. This event had many attractive Lucky Draw Prizes and there was a live auction for Singapore Airlines Business Class Air Tickets from Sydney to Singapore. I did not bid for the tickets as I cannot leave Australia until I get my PR. So I am waiting... very patiently...

I attended the event together with my lovely girlfriends Angela Deng and Stefanie Lin. We had a wonderful evening catching up over dinner as well as participating actively in the games organized. I have always believed in donating to Charity and giving back to the community, so I bought several Charity Raffle Tickets.

To my great surprise and amazement, I won the Charity Lucky Draw where the prize was a One Night Hotel Stay at Park Royal Darling Harbour Hotel inclusive of Breakfast. I never thought I could win as in reality, the chances of winning was actually very slim as there were around 230 people at this event and many people bought multiple Charity Raffle Tickets. When they called out my number, I leaped out of my chair in great joy! I was so happy! I guess I am a very lucky person! During the last Lunar Chinese New Year dinner event, I also won an Ayam Brand Hamper during the Charity Lucky Draw :)

I am always missing Singapore and my family and one great way to get closer to home was to join the Temasek Club NSW in Sydney where the social club consists of mostly Singaporeans and people who love Singapore! If you are interested to join Temasek Club NSW, do check out http://www.temasekclub.com.au and you are very welcome to join the club :) Special thanks to the wonderful Temasek Club NSW Committee Members who put in their time and effort to organize such wonderful events for us members. Your hard work is much appreciated by me and I look forward to attending more future events :)

President of Temasek Club NSW - Mr Eric Yeo

Temasek Club Committee Members - Luci Ozcan, Angela Lee, Candice Sng

One of the highlights of the night was the exciting dance performance by XO CROSSOVER Dance Studio. The energetic and talented dancers perform street dancing and free style dancing. Director - Jaye Sutato is also the person responsible for organizing the KPOP Summit in Sydney. To engage the audience further, the dancers invited the current and ex-Presidents of Temasek Club NSW to compete in a dance battle. It was highly entertaining to watch each of them perform their very best by learning various dance movements from the members of Crossover Dance Group. I must say dancing to music brings great joy to everyone!

Oh yes, before attending the Temasek Club NSW Event, I had a wonderful brunch with Anna and Jinah at Cafe Morso, Pyrmont, Sydney City where we celebrated Ebon's birthday over wine and delicious food. It was a beautiful day to dine by the Pyrmont waters :) After which, I rushed off to send my Lamborghini Gallardo Spider for Oil and Filter servicing as it was due already.

Sara Shantelle Lim Inspired by Singaporeans on the Forbes list of Notable Asian Philanthropists

Sara Shantelle Lim on the idea of Charity

Charity should not be boastful, it should come sincerely from the heart. No matter what amount is given, it should always be appreciated. Charity is a virtue and a true act of kindness. The act itself is motivated to help others to be better off. I have always aspire to be someone who is able to help the less fortunate and especially the underprivileged children. My company SaraShantelle has worked closely and contributed to Singapore's Children Society and I have actively helped to give entrepreneurial/career business talks to schools in Singapore as I have always believe in giving back to society and help the local community. Recently, I read a news article which greatly inspires me which I want to share with all of you. My dream would be to be like the local businessman featured in this news.

Social Entrepreneurship Talk at NTU Business School

The local businessmen on the list of notable philanthropists include Valencia football club owner Peter Lim.

SINGAPORE: Four Singapore businessmen, including Ho Bee Land Chairman Chua Thian Poh and Valencia football club owner Peter Lim, are on this year's Forbes list of notable Asian philanthropists.
The other Singaporeans among Forbes Asia's 48 "Heroes of Philanthropy" are Nippon Paint Singapore founder, Mr Goh Cheng Liang and Professor Saw Swee Hock, an expert on population and statistics.
Mr Chua Thian Poh, 65, was feted for his contributions to education. Forbes estimates Chua has donated at least US$10 million (S$12.5 million) towards college-level education in Singapore since 2008, focusing on developing entrepreneurs and community leaders.
Mr Peter Lim, 61, known as the "remisier king", donated at least US$16 million over the past six years to sports and education causes.
Mr Goh Cheng Liang, 85, is more closely associated with medical research. His 20-year-old Goh Foundation gave US$40 million to Singapore's National Cancer Centre in March for cancer research and to help set up a proton-beam treatment facility. It had previously donated US$10 million to the Centre and also has assisted education initiatives and other medical projects.
Prof Saw Swee Hock, 83, has given more than US$30 million to universities in Singapore, China, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. His largest reported contribution is US$24 million in 2011 to launch the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Professor Saw and his family made their money by investing in bungalows, in part with an inheritance from his businessman father-in-law, according to Forbes.

Sara Shantelle Lim Loves Children!
I support Singapore's Children Society

(Sara Shantelle Lim & "not my baby, but he's super cute!")

This is where I hang out most of the time, working through piles of files, documents and paperwork. This is my work place, whereby I squeeze my brain juice out, so that I can hopefully, be on Forbes Magazine one day. Some people may think that I'm being too wishful, or dreamy. But seriously, I'm not going to give up. This is who I am, I want to be financially free, I want to be a full time mother, I want to start up new orphanages, I want to help all the children in Singapore, to live a comfortable life with love and proper education. After all, I have my entire lifetime to work towards my goal.

Everyday, I'm striving.. As the song goes.. "I wanna be a Billionaire, so freaking bad.."

BILLIONAIRE by Bruno Mars

I wanna be a billionaire so freakin' bad
Buy all of the things I never had
I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen.......

Just so you know, I listen to this song, almost every single day, when I'm driving to work.

Sara Shantelle Lim's Quote of the Day:

You will become who you believe you are, you are what you believe to be - Sara Shantelle Lim.
